A study of representative samples of literature, art, and music of various periods and cultures from prehistory through the Renaissance. The study of the interrelationships of the arts and their philosophies emphasizes an understanding of human nature and the values of human life. Great Questions Seminar - A study of the interrelationships of the arts and sciences and their philosophies and an inquiry into human nature and the values of human life. Students employ an interdisciplinary study of representative samples of literature, art, mathematics and music of various periods and cultures from prehistory to the Renaissance in the context of discussion based seminars to acquire and sharpen effective learning strategies and critical thinking skills, enabling students to better understand, retain and apply information in a higher education environment. This course counts as a standard HUMA 1301 course. Great Questions Seminar: Global Studies - A study of the interrelationships of the arts and sciences and their philosophies and an inquiry into human nature and the values of human life. Students employ an interdisciplinary study of representative samples of literature, art, mathematics and music of various periods and cultures from prehistory to the Renaissance in the context of discussion based seminars to acquire and sharpen effective learning strategies and critical thinking skills, enabling students to better understand, retain and apply information in a higher education environment. This course relates this study to the diversity, complexity and interdependence of the world community and current global issues. It is part of ACC's Global Studies (GS) program but is open to all students and counts as a standard HUMA 1301 course.
