Catalog description

In this course, students continue to develop reading and vocabulary skills for personal, academic and professional purposes. The course includes extensive practice in reading and comprehending multi-page articles, narratives, reports, editorials, opinion essays, and reference materials. While focus remains on interpretation of material, drawing inferences and summarizing passages, students also practice active reading strategies, annotation and note-taking. Literary analysis of fiction and vocabulary expansion skills are emphasized. This course may be repeated for up to six hours of credit. Upon completion of this course, students should register for ESOL 0314: Reading 4.
