Catalog description

In this course, students continue to develop reading and vocabulary skills for personal, academic and professional purposes. The course includes extensive practice in reading and comprehending multi-page articles on various academic topics. Focus is on interpretation of factual material, drawing inferences and conclusions, and summarizing selected passages. In addition, students read and respond to fiction, exploring character motivation and elements of plot. Vocabulary is expanded through study of word structure and context clues. This course may be repeated for up to six hours of credit. Upon completion of this course, students should register for ESOL 0313: Reading 3.
