Catalog description

A general survey of theater including exploration of dramatic literature, theory, and criticism; production arts, skills, and crafts; and theater history from 500 BC to the present. Course requires good reading and writing skills. Attendance at plays required. Theater Appreciation: African and African Diaspora Studies - This course relates topics in DRAM 1310 to the intellectual, historical, political, artistic, religious, scientific, economic, and/or sociocultural experiences of people of African descent. It is part of ACC's African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) program but is open to all students and counts as a standard DRAM 1310 course. Theater Appreciation: Global Studies - This course relates topics in DRAM 1310 to the diversity, complexity and interdependence of the world community and current global issues. It is part of ACC's Global Studies (GS) program but is open to all students and counts as a standard DRAM 1310 course. Theater Appreciation: Mexican American Studies - This course relates topics in DRAM 1310 to works by Mexican American and Latinx playwrights in studies of theater history, dramatic conventions, and theater production in order to explore questions of authorship and identity and performance as a site of struggle for social justice. It is part of the Mexican American Studies (MAS) program but is open to all students and counts as a standard DRAM 1310 course. Theater Appreciation: Peace and Conflict Studies - This course relates topics in DRAM 1310 to questions of war, peace, social justice and conflict resolution. It is part of ACC's Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) program but is open to all students and counts as a standard DRAM 1310 course.
