Catalog description
A continuation of Contemporary Dental Hygiene Care I. Dental hygiene care for the medically or dentally compromised patient including advanced instrumentation techniques. This course expands on the provision of dental hygiene care for medically or dentally compromised patients and special populations emphasizing systemic disease processes and the prevention, recognition, and management of medical emergencies. Keeping with the philosophy of the dental hygiene curriculum, research principles are emphasized to further develop the student's ability to prepare evidenced-based decisions and to demonstrate the need for life-long professional development. The laboratory portion of the course includes case-based applications.
