Catalog description

Application of the principles and concepts of community public health and dental health education emphasizing community assessment, educational planning, implementation, and evaluation including methods and materials used in teaching dental health education in various community settings. Field experiences are designed to prepare students to function in a variety of community health settings. Emphasis is on improving oral health equity in traditionally underserved populations. Student experiences include service-learning with off-site community-based organizations, student presentations, group activities, and volunteer experiences in the community. The course is designated as a service-learning (SVL) course.
