Microbiology for Science Majors

Catalog description

A lecture and laboratory course for science majors that examines the principles of microbiology, including microbial metabolism, structure, function, genetics, and phylogeny. The course explores interactions among microorganisms, their hosts, and the environment, emphasizing microbial ecology and evolutionary relationships. The accompanying laboratory reinforces core microbiological concepts through experimental investigation, cultivation and analysis of microorganisms, and application of standard microbiological techniques. Prerequisites strictly enforced. BIOL 2421 and BIOL 2420 may not both be applied toward the same degree plan.
