Catalog description

This is the first of a two-course sequence for students working to acquire their Professional Educator Licensure for School Social Work. This course focuses on the role of a school social worker, ethical and legal considerations, the special education process, and multitiered systems of support. Students will learn about creating safe, responsive, and respectful school communities by utilizing a variety of evidence-informed behavioral, mental health, and suicide prevention interventions. This course will help prepare students to provide school social work services to individuals, groups, families, the school system, and the community.
