Audio and Music Production

Catalog description

This course will introduce students to the concepts, practices and tools in the process of audio and music production. Students will gain an understanding of the fundamental science of sound and acoustics and the historical evolution of audio-based media. The course will also include a primer on the present-day music industry and relevant copyright and legal issues. Students will complete a number of listening and technical exercises designed to develop skills in audio literacy and digital audio production. The class will conclude with a significant audio production project. No previous technical or musical ability is assumed or required for this class.
