This course introduces the components and functions of the immune system, focusing on how the body detects and defends against pathogens while maintaining tolerance to self. Students will explore innate and adaptive immunity, examining the cells and molecular students involved in pathogen recognition and response, including topics such as antigen recognition, lymphocyte activity, and immune diversity generation. Clinical topics such as immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, allery, organ transplantation, and tumor immunity are covered to highlight the immune system's role in health and disease.
