This course emphasizes the theory and practical application of orthopedic injury assessment and diagnosis for the lower extremity. Students will develop an evidence-based approach to orthopedic injury assessment and differential diagnosis by integrating current peer-reviewed research with anatomical considerations and injury pathology. Standard orthopedic assessment techniques will be learned and applied to injuries and illnesses of the lower extremity. Students will learn guidelines for proper documentation and appropriate physician referral as part of the overall assessment process.
