Catalog description
Are we truly the conscious authors of our actions, or are our judgments and behaviors shaped by unconscious processes? With this big question, we will explore major social implications with no easy answers. Students will hone skills as active readers, researchers, and persuasive writers. Students will encounter multiple genres and perspectives, consider issues of authority and credibility, and refine evidence-based claims through a process of reflection and revision. By promoting original thought and the clear expression of ideas, this course prepares students for a rigorous education in the liberal arts.
