Catalog description

On service, students will become an integral part of the Cardiothoracic Team and take responsibility for managing assigned patients. Students are expected to complete tasks such as initiating the clinical database, beginning diagnostic measures and where possible, perform surgical procedures with supervision. Additionally, students will participate in teaching responsibilities, conferences, clinics, patient consultations, operating room cases and night call experiences of the service. Students will finish the rotation with increased knowledge and skills needed to care for Cardiothoracic surgical patients. Prerequisite(s): SURG 5000 >= C Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
