Catalog description

Students function as substitute interns on the general surgical services at the Medical College of Georgia hospitals. They are assigned to a specific surgical service and function as an integral part of that service. Students are expected to initiate the clinical database, begin diagnostic measures, and – where possible – to perform surgical procedures with supervision. In addition, students participate in the teaching responsibilities, conferences, clinics, and operating experiences of the service to which they are assigned and are assigned night call responsibilities.
