Juvenile Delinquency and Justice

Catalog description

This course discusses the philosophy, theory, and history of juvenile delinquency, including its causes, preventions, and measurement from sociological perspectives. It also discusses the historical development of juvenile justice including the establishment of the juvenile court and juvenile corrections in America. Topics include: the philosophical, social, and legal justifications of juvenile justice, contrasts the processing of juveniles with that of adult offenders, and focuses on contemporary issues and problems in juvenile justice.
