Victimology and Victimization

Catalog description

An overview of the sociological approach to victimology and victimization. Topics include: situating victimization within the broader criminological sciences, classic and contemporary theoretical approaches to victimization, the social construction of victimization and “worthy victims,” approaches to victimization within the criminal justice system, and impact of victimization on individuals and communities. The role of social inequalities is examined.
