Psychology of Intelligence Analysis

Catalog description

This course explores the psychological foundations and cognitive processes that underpin intelligence analysis. Students will examine how human cognition—particularly perception, memory, reasoning, and decision-making—affects the interpretation and evaluation of intelligence data. Emphasis is placed on understanding cognitive biases, ethics, heuristics, and the psychological dynamics of analytical teams and organizations. Students will learn to identify and mitigate common analytical pitfalls, enhance critical thinking, and apply psychological principles to improve the accuracy and reliability of intelligence assessments.
