Examines the U.S.’s overall grand strategy and foreign policy within the context of international relations and security studies. The first part of the course focuses on defining grand strategy and foreign policy. The second part of the course considers how states develop their grand strategies and foreign policies. The third part of the course analyzes the U.S.’s grand strategy and foreign policy and how they have evolved over time. The fourth part of the course focuses on the historical, political, economic, and social factors that have shaped the U.S.’s grand strategy and foreign policy. The last part of the course considers the national and international security implications of the U.S.’s grand strategy and foreign policy.
