Counterintelligence: Theory and Practice

Catalog description

Introduction to the theory and practice of Counterintelligence. Students become familiar with the major tenets of both offensive and defensive counterintelligence operations, as well as an overview of CI operational planning. Case studies are heavily replied upon to highlight the successes and failures of past CI operations, most of which were derived from released classified material. Additionally, given this is a course focusing on the “practice” of intelligence, students are asked to produce several counterintelligence assessments in memorandum format, as well as prepare an in-depth research paper on a given topic associated with a past CI operation. Finally, students become familiar with the most common ethical dilemmas associated with the conduct of both offensive and defensive CI operations.
