Catalog description

The focus of the course is on integrating science concepts, disciplinary core ideas, and inquiry processes into the teaching of science in high school. Emphasis will be placed on the process-oriented inquiry method of teaching science, designing and planning instruction, and implementing and evaluating student learning in science. Prospective teachers are expected to integrate knowledge of science, learning, and pedagogy and apply that knowledge to science teaching. Course content and presentation is guided by the Science Georgia Standards of Excellence (SGES), the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and NSTA’s Preservice Science Standards (PSS). Credit Hours: 3 Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 2 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
