Radiology Externship (4 to 8 Credit Hours)

Catalog description
This four-week elective provides a basic overview of clinical radiology. Students rotate through most of the major areas of radiology, participating in the clinical diagnostic process. In addition to clinical rotations, lectures and case conferences are scheduled throughout the rotation. The primary goal of the elective is to help students develop a better understanding of the functions of radiology as a contributor to primary care of the patient. Students learn to recognize certain basic radiographic signs and patterns; however, it is not intended that students will be able to “read” a radiograph at the end of the elective. Lecture Hours: 10 Contact Hours: 30 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
