Catalog description

Provides students with the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, and competency necessary to manage patients/clients with cardiovascular and pulmonary dysfunction. Topics include: basic science, exercise physiology, pathophysiology, and the clinical skills required for the examination and treatment of the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems. Students select and perform examination and intervention skills for primary, secondary, and tertiary management of cardiovascular and pulmonary systems. A strong emphasis is placed on evaluation and development of a comprehensive plan of care to improve patient/client health and outcomes. It is expected that the knowledge and skills gained in this course will be applied to patients/clients across the lifespan and continuum of care to include application of the ICF model, history taking, systems review, examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and progression, re-evaluation, and discharge.
