Pediatric Ambulatory Selective

Catalog description
The PEDS Ambulatory Selective will prepare students for care of pediatric patients in an ambulatory setting. Students will work in an outpatient setting supervised by a general pediatrician or pediatric sub-specialist. Students will independently obtain history and exam, document encounters in the medical record, communicate directly with patients, and give appropriate anticipatory guidance to patients. Students will learn about billing and coding, insurance issues, and meaningful use. Students must complete a portfolio in One45 and a clinical exercise on a pediatric patient. Prerequisite(s): PEDS 5000 >= C Contact Hours: 40 Repeatability: May be repeated for credit one time.
