Clinical Pathology Externship (4 to 8 Credit Hours)

Catalog description
Prerequisite: Phase II. This elective is based on the practical application of clinical laboratory methods and evaluation of results. This objective will be pursued through patient rounds, interpretation of laboratory data, participation in patient treatment, particularly the use of blood and blood components, the development of tests and their evaluation as to future clinical utilization. An opportunity to learn the techniques of hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, microscopy, immunohematology and blood banking will be available. This elective includes hands-on instruction. Lecture Hours: 1 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
