Catalog description

In this course, the occupational therapy student will use a collaborative process involving the identification of a problem, creation of possible solutions, and assessment of their effectiveness in a community –based practice setting. Learners will assess client/family or community based health needs and design, develop and implement an evidence based program to address the identified needs. This includes the examination of issues and trends influencing community based practice, proposal creation, contractual agreement as necessary, identification of possible funding sources, outcome benchmarks, and promotional/marketing strategies for a community based setting. The course addresses community based and emerging practice settings across the life span. Prerequisite: Successful completion of the third semester MHS course work or permission of the instructor/chair. Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 4 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
