Advanced Anatomy, Physiology & Pathophysiology for Nursing Anesthesia I

Catalog description

This graduate-level course provides an in-depth exploration of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, central nervous, autonomic nervous, and hematologic systems as they relate to nurse anesthesia practice. Students will integrate foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal physiological processes to support clinical decision-making in perioperative anesthesia care. Emphasis is placed on the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying ischemic and valvular heart disease, obstructive and restrictive lung disorders, cerebrovascular disease, hematologic abnormalities, central nervous and autonomic nervous dysfunction. By synthesizing knowledge of systemic disease states and their perioperative implications, this course fosters preparation for clinical practice in nurse anesthesia.
