Prerequisite: NURS 7470 and NURS 7460. Corequisite: NURS7470. This course provides opportunities to apply concepts from courses in advanced health assessment, diagnostic reasoning, advanced pharmacology and psychopharmacology in a mental health-psychiatric nursing practicum. Emphasis is on nursing assessment, diagnosis, and management of individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders, with a strong emphasis on patient-education. Students will apply evidence-based practice guidelines to select and manage medications, monitor therapeutic and adverse reactions to medications, and evaluate treatment response. Prerequisite(s): NURS 7460 and NURS 7470 Contact Hours: 6 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
