Catalog description

Focuses on the implementation of evidence-based practice to address trends in safety and quality to achieve optimal outcomes. This course also examines the relationship between research and its relevance to nursing practice. Emphasis is placed on the retrieval, appraisal, and synthesis of evidence in collaboration with healthcare team members, including patients, to improve care outcomes. Use of performance measures to assess and improve the delivery of evidence-based practices and to promote outcomes that demonstrate delivery of quality care at the microsystem level are also highlighted. The relationship to outcomes are evaluated using information systems, management principles, concepts of evidence-based practices and scientific writing publications. Prerequisite(s): NURS 6100 and NURS 6700 and STAT 6300 Lecture Hours: 3 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
