Catalog description

The human brain is composed of 100 billion neurons forming over 100 trillion synapses which govern all human functions. This course explores how this system is established. It examines how neurons are generated to form complex structures; how axons and dendrites find each other to wire the nervous system together; how synapses are correctly made, and remodeled with experience. Finally, it discusses how these processes are affected in neurodevelopmental disorders. Prerequisite(s): NSCI 2001 >= C and BIOL 1107 >= C Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Other Hours: 0 Contact Hours: 0 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
