Catalog description

Permanent assignment to a specific lab with a major advisor and a defined research project. After successful completion of the second qualifying examination, the student works closely with their major advisor on an in-depth study of a research problem of interest to both student and advisor. This course culminates in the preparation of a PhD dissertation. Enrollment in this course requires official admission to candidacy. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit.
