This course examines how firms generate, manage, and commercialize technological innovation to achieve and sustain competitive advantage. Drawing on strategic management frameworks, the course explores how innovation emerges from firms, networks, and broader ecosystems, and how it shapes industry evolution, competitive dynamics, and firm performance. Students will analyze key strategic decisions related to innovation, including the selection and management of innovation projects, collaboration through alliances and partnerships, and the protection and appropriation of innovation outcomes. The course also examines how firms organize for innovation, manage new product development processes, and successfully bring new technologies to market. Through a combination of conceptual frameworks and case-based discussions, students will develop an integrated understanding of how firms formulate and implement innovation strategies in dynamic and uncertain environments.
