Active Learning in the Middle Grades Classroom

Catalog description
Students will examine the elements of middle grades curriculum and instruction that is challenging, exploratory, integrative, and relevant. An emphasis will be placed on learner-centered pedagogy that engages young adolescents in active learning. Strategies to incorporate technology into instruction in the middle grades classroom will also be addressed. A field experience component is required in a local school setting. Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 2 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
