Catalog description
An advanced course in partial differential equations. Topics include first order conservation laws and the solutions of general nonlinear and quasilinear first order partial differential equations. Hyperbolic systems are solved by characteristic variables. Riemann’s function, Green’s function and similarity variable methods are introduced. Applications in the biosciences will be emphasized. Lecture Hours: 3 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
