Catalog description

This introductory course is designed to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills in preparation for working with athletic teams in a training setting. Topics include guidelines for instructing safe, effective, and purposeful exercise; essentials of the coach–athlete relationship; foundational principles of strength and conditioning in a team setting; proper use of equipment and training modalities; and strategies for designing and implementing weight room activities for groups. The team training specialist’s professional role is also explored. This course does not prepare students for the NSCA-CSCS certification exam. Lecture Hours: 3 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
