The Art of Fiction

Catalog description

An introduction to the aesthetics and craft of short fiction writing. Students will read and analyze published works in multiple genres (i.e., literary, magic realism, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy) studying the techniques and strategies that underscore successful fiction. Students will then write and workshop their own original short fiction in class while learning how to critique and review their peers’ work. Prerequisite(s): ( ENGL 1101 >= C or ENGL 1101H >= C) and ( ENGL 1102 >= C or ENGL 1102H >= C) and ENGL 2110 >= C Lecture Hours: 3 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
