Disability Studies and Classroom Practice

Catalog description

Students in this course will explore enduring questions about K-12 differences in learners in their schools and classrooms. The differentiation between special education and disability studies will be explored along with the theoretical models of normality, and the medical deficit and social model of disability. Theories of disability studies will be applied in practice through coursework in classrooms. This course is open for both special educators and general educators who work with specialized populations. Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
