Perspectives on U.S. Education in Context

Catalog description

To enhance their ability to effectively engage with a wide range of learners, students in this course will examine the historical and societal factors that shape contemporary education in the United States. Framed within the context of U.S. global political and economic systems, the course guides students in analyzing the changing contexts within which educational policy and practice operate. Students will examine from multiple perspectives the strengths and limitations of theories, empirical research, and policies most relevant to educators, students, and families in the U.S. Lecture Hours: 3 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
