Catalog description

This course is designed for beginning teachers to develop the skills to teach fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, phonemic awareness, and phonics. It will focus on the best practices supported by research in these fields and will emphasize how the teacher can set up a classroom that fosters literacy learning for students in grades P-5. A 25-hour field experience in P-12 is required for this course. Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 2 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
