Catalog description

This course surveys art from the post-1945 era to the present, beginning with Abstract Expressionism and continuing through the pluralism of global contemporary art. Students will study historical sources and interpretive methods for analyzing how art engages with the political, economic and cultural issues of its time. Case studies highlight the impact of events such as the Cold War, Civil Rights movement, and globalization on artistic expression. Prerequisite(s): ART 2612 >= C Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
