Ceramics I for Art Majors and Art Minors

Catalog description

Ceramics is a contemporary medium which has been at the core or art making practice throughout history. Students learn the fundamentals of working with clay through a variety of methods. Through hand-building, wheel-throwing and sculptural methods, students use clay as means for artistic expression. Additionally, basic glazing and firing techniques are introduced. Students address design problems involving aesthetic value and procedure in the making of ceramic objects. Prerequisite(s): ART 1211 >= C and ART 1520 >= C and ART 1530 >= C Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
