Methods of Economic Evaluation of Health Projects, Programs, and Policies

Catalog description

This is an introductory course to economic evaluation that provides an applied framework for analysis and evaluation of health policies, programs, and interventions. The overall goal of the course is to provide students with conceptual foundations and practical skills and tools to succeed in various careers involving health policy and program analysis and evaluations. The course starts with an introduction to the concepts and principles of economic evaluation and then focuses on applications of various evaluation techniques to the real-world issues and problems (e.g., cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, cost-benefits, decision modeling). The course provides a significant exposure and practice to the methods and approaches of defining and measuring costs, benefits, and effectiveness of health policies and programs Prerequisite(s): Permission of the instructor.
