Catalog description

This course examines the origins and cultures of native peoples of the U.S. and Canada as well as the challenges that Native Americans have faced due to contact and continued interactions with Euro-Americans. Historical processes including population decline, culture change, and federal Indian policy will be considered along with modern cultural issues that affect the tribes today. Students will also be exposed to Native critiques of academic treatements of their cultures and hsitories. Lecture Hours: 3 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
