Catalog description
This course combines discussion of an overview of larger theoretical trends in cultural anthropology and provides an introduction to “doing” ethnography through the study and practice of fieldwork. In seminar-style discussions and workshop exercises, students become familiar with qualitative research practices (like participant-observation and interviewing) and types of writing (like fieldnotes and ethnography); and develop their understanding of key ideas (like intersubjectivity, reflexivity, and interpretation). Lecture Hours: 4 Repeatability: May not be repeated for credit.
