Catalog description

This course is designed for pre-service teacher candidates who have not had undergraduate reading education. This course provides candidates with a solid foundation for effective literacy instruction grounded in the science of reading with emphasis on oral language development, word structure, letter knowledge, phonemic awareness, phonics, and irregular/multi-syllabic word reading. Field experience (10 hours) is embedded to observe and practice reading instruction.
