Catalog description

This course introduces core principles and concepts of open source Geographic Information Systems and web mapping. It emphasizes a hands-on learning approach to real-world problem solving. Students will learn to use a variety of open source GIS software packages and libraries to gather, manipulate, display and analyze spatial data. The course also prepares students to design, develop, and implement custom web mapping applications using open standards and free software and APIs
