Advanced seminar examines the representation of the artist in non-fiction, fiction, and biographical film as a cultural construct, explores the frequent male gendering of genius, and probes the complex links among “the artist” and madness, addiction, sexuality, and creativity. May be taught concurrently with ARTH 6100.
