Catalog description
This course analyzes family, school and community resources as related to the family life cycle; explores environmental approaches; and explores careers related to children and families. Strategies to improve communication and collaboration are emphasized with a focus on family types, cultures, languages, economic conditions, school systems, community services, political forces, advocacy groups and other factors that impact young children and their families. Fifteen hours of service learning at an approved site is required. Students may also be responsible for additional cost associated with background checks and liability insurance. Prerequisites: Exit or exemption from Learning Support Reading, English, and Math, and completion of ENGL 1102 with a grade of "C" or better.
