Catalog description
This course addresses theories of human development from conception to middle childhood (age eleven years) with attention to the social, emotional, physical and cognitive domains. Issues relating to family, diversity, and culture will be addressed as they relate to development and supporting children’s learning. Students will also explore effective learning environments, health, safety & nutrition for children. Fifteen hours of observations in natural settings at an approved site is required. Students may also be responsible for additional cost associated with background checks and liability insurance. Prerequisites: Exit or exemption from Learning Support Reading, English, and Math, and completion of ENGL 1101 with a "C" or better .
