Catalog description

This course will focus on the scientific foundation of psychiatric mental health disorders, mental health promotion, preventive health, and developmentally appropriate care practices. Students will synthesize and translate knowledge from nursing and other disciplines as a framework for clinical judgement, evidence-based practice, and ethical decision making in caring for patients across the lifespan in a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner role. Students will complete 100 hours of direct care clinical under the supervision of qualified clinical preceptors and nursing faculty to achieve entry level clinical competency in the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner role.
