Catalog description

This course is designed to introduce the educational terminology, definitions, model programs, and alternative environments that are appropriate for students with emotional and behavioral differences. How students with behavior support needs are identified as eligible for special education, the use of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Positive Behavior Intervention Support Plans, and effective teaming strategies are discussed. Emphasis is on using an educative rather than punitive approach to change behavior and how to include all stakeholders, especially the family and student, in the behavior plan development and implementation process.
